Job Description
General Survey Inspection (GSI) is seeking an experienced Senior Field Surveyor to join our growing team. As a leading independent inspection company specializing in agricultural commodities, we provide quality control, supervision, and laboratory services to clients worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to work with international clients and be part of a GAFTA and FOSFA approved organization.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commodity inspection, strong technical knowledge of agricultural products, and excellent communication skills. You will be responsible for conducting inspections at ports, warehouses, and production facilities, ensuring compliance with international standards and client specifications.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and experience to excel in this role at GSI:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in commodity inspection or quality control
- Knowledge of GAFTA, FOSFA, and international trade standards
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with draft surveys, sampling procedures, and laboratory coordination is highly desirable. Candidates with existing GAFTA or FOSFA certifications will be given preference.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Field Surveyor at GSI, you will be responsible for the following key duties:
- Conduct quality and quantity inspections of agricultural commodities
- Perform draft surveys and weight supervision at ports and terminals
- Supervise loading and discharge operations for vessels, trucks, and wagons
- Collect representative samples according to international standards
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and certificates
- Coordinate with laboratory teams for sample analysis
- Maintain client relationships and ensure service excellence
